The SEMA Action Network (SAN)
will be on hand at the 40th Annual Country Music Association (CMA)
Music Festival Power Zone to inform attendees about how they can get
involved in the group’s legislative advocacy efforts. The Power Zone is
designed as a new outreach endeavor aimed at the country music fan base,
many of whom share a passion for automobiles.

Several weeks ago, SEMA requested that the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) suspend its partial waiver to permit the sale
of gasoline containing 15% ethanol (E15) for model-year (MY) ’07 and newer
vehicles. Instead, the EPA has taken another step in the wrong
direction by expanding the waiver to include MY ’01-’06 vehicles. The
decision seems to conflict with President Obama’s Executive Order from
earlier this week that requires government agencies to balance social
and economic costs.
SEMA and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA)
councils announced July 8, 2011, as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.”
The date marks the second commemoration in what will become an annual
event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and
collection plays in American society. SEMA and its councils are now
working to secure a congressional resolution to recognize the day’s
significance.
Publisher of Hot Rod and more than 50 other auto enthusiast magazines is using its newsstand reach to raise awareness of legislation that affects all car, truck, motorcycle and racing enthusiasts.
