A new, 230 hp High Performance package for the Mustang coupe and convertible will be available in late 2019.

At the 2019 New York International Auto Show, April 17, Ford announced the company will offer a new High Performance package to upgrade its base 2.3 EcoBoost model in 2020. The ’20 Mustang is shown here as media checked out the new model.

The new High Performance package features a 2.3L four-cylinder powerplant making 330 hp at 5,500 rpm on 93-octane fuel, and 350 lb.-ft. of torque at just 3,000 rpm, thanks in part to a 63mm twin-scroll turbo compressor. The High Performance 2.3 is essentially a Focus RS engine adapted for use in a rear-wheel-drive car. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment with the High Performance 2.3 engine, and a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters is optional. An EcoBoost Handling package, with wider wheels, thicker anti-sway bar and MagneRide shocks, is another available option. The ’20 2.3 EcoBoost Mustang with the High Performance package is scheduled to arrive in dealerships this fall.
