The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded $152,000 to 61 individuals this year.
Since 2009, WD-40 Co. and SEMA Cares have teamed up to raise more than $800,000 through six project builds, the most recent being a Ford F-150 that was raffled off to Virginia Jones of Walking Rock, Georgia. The enhanced ’13 Ford F-150 Lariat, a collaboration between SEMA manufacturing members and students from the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts (AXC), was designed by industry icon Chip Foose and is the first vehicle to be modified in the SEMA Garage – Industry Innovations Center in Diamond Bar, California.
There’s only one week left to purchase raffle tickets for your chance to own a one-of-a-kind, custom off-road truck designed by the legendary Chip Foose. Raffle tickets are only $50, but they can only be purchased through Wednesday, April 30.
Organizations such as SEMA put a good deal of attention on long-range, strategic planning. One truly long-range initiative at SEMA is about engaging with the younger members—and future members—of our industry. The next generation really is the future of the industry.
The 2014 SEMA Scholarship Engine build—headed by Richard Maskin, a highly credentialed engine builder and NHRA Pro Stock Championship winning crew chief—will feature a Dart LS Next cast-iron block (a new variation of the standard LS).
The SEMA Scholarship Committee has announced that its 2013–2014 SEMA engine project will feature a 700+ hp package based on a Dart LS Next cast-iron block. The engine will be offered on eBay beginning December 12, 2013, and the proceeds will benefit the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, which aids young men and women seeking careers in the automotive industry.
Excitement around the WD-40/SEMA Cares Foose Ford F-150 continues to build as students from the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts (AXC) and leading SEMA manufacturers install more top-of-the-line parts and equipment on the one-of-a-kind, off-road truck.
The deadline to submit an application for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund is Friday, March 29.
