SEMA and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot
Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) councils this year announced July 13, 2012,
as “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” The date marks the third
commemoration in what has become an annual event to raise awareness of
the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American
society.

Prior to the new year, the SEMA Board of Directors approved a motion to
decrease the size of the Board. The bylaw revision initiative reflects
their consensus that a smaller Board would improve the quality of
discussion and reduce cost.

SEMA hosts 10 distinct councils and committees that represent
focused niches within the specialty-equipment industry. These groups
are comprised of elected volunteers (Select Committee) who guide and
direct council activities while representing the membership at large.
Although each council acts independently and represents a different
segment, they are all focused on the betterment of the industry as a
whole.
