Kyle Kuhnhausen of Kuhnhausen Metal Concepts is the latest builder to be highlighted in the “SEMA: Ready For Battle” video series with Adrienne “AJ” Janic. Many may already know Kuhnhausen from his 2018 Battle of the Builders Young Guns win with his ’72 Datsun 240z, affectionately dubbed “InZanity.” Others may have read about him when he was named one of SEMA’s “35 Under 35” in 2019.
Get a virtual tour of Kuhnhausen’s workshop, including an exclusive look at his latest endeavor, a ’55 Chevy Bel Air known as the Banana Boat. Powered by a supercharged big block, this tri-five Chevy has more custom-fabricated parts than one can count ,including a modified scoop, belt guard, Ford 9-in. rear end and multiple chassis and body mods.
A T-56 TREMEC six-speed delivers the power to the wheels while rowing through the gears. The custom-crafted fuel tank is provided by Rick’s Tanks of Texas, which is paired to a Holley Pulse Width Modulated fuel pump. Although the SEMA Show is only a few months away and Kuhnhausen still has a laundry list of work left to do, there is little doubt that this classic will be show-ready in November.
