Private equity firm Gryphon Investors has acquired a majority interest
in automotive air- and oil-filtration product manufacturer K&N
Engineering. According to a release, Jerry Mall, one of the original
founders of K&N, along with current management will continue to hold
a significant investment in the company. The terms of the transaction
were not disclosed.

Prior to the new year, the SEMA Board of Directors approved a motion to
decrease the size of the Board. The bylaw revision initiative reflects
their consensus that a smaller Board would improve the quality of
discussion and reduce cost.

SEMA hosts 10 distinct councils and committees that represent
focused niches within the specialty-equipment industry. These groups
are comprised of elected volunteers (Select Committee) who guide and
direct council activities while representing the membership at large.
Although each council acts independently and represents a different
segment, they are all focused on the betterment of the industry as a
whole.
Nominations for the 2012 SEMA Board of
Directors are due Wednesday, January 4, 2012.
