TOP TWO DRIVERS IN EACH CLASS DISCUSS FINAL TWO STOPS ON NHRA FULL THROTTLE DRAG RACING SCHEDULE:
The culmination of another impressive season is upon us as the NHRA
Full Throttle Drag Racing Series heads into its final two races of the
season, beginning this weekend with the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals at The
Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After 21 races in nine months, the
battle for the world championship has come down to less than 100 points
separating the first and second place drivers in each of the four
categories.
TWO TO GO! COMPETITION GETS TIGHT AS COUNTDOWN TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP APPROACHES ITS FINAL TWO RACES:
With 21 races already in the record books for 2010, the competition
couldn’t be tighter heading into the final two races of the NHRA Full
Throttle Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship. In all four
classes, the top two drivers in the point standings are within striking
distance of each other, with less than 100 points separating each
driver. In Top Fuel, points leader Larry Dixon has been strong all year
long, posting a perfect final-round record of 12 wins in 12
appearances, and tallying up an impressive eight No. 1 qualifiers for
the year. But second-place driver Cory McClenathan has stayed hot on
his trail and currently sits just 89 points out of the lead heading
into the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals next weekend.
DIXON STRENGTHENS POINTS LEAD WITH 12TH WIN OF SEASON; PEDREGON NABS SECOND WIN OF SEASON IN READING:
Top Fuel points leader Larry Dixon picked up his 12th win in 12
final-round appearances Sunday in high fashion, winning a pedal-fest
final round against second-place in the point standings Cory
McClenathan at the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in
Reading, Pennsylvania. After smoking the tires early in the run, Dixon
was able to get back on the throttle of his Al-Anabi Racing dragster
and drive past McClenathan to secure only his second win at Maple Grove
and strengthen his points lead to 89 over the field.
CHALLENGERS HOPE TO KEEP MOMENTUM GOING AT TOYO TIRES NHRA NATIONALS:
With three races to go in the Full Throttle Countdown to the
Championship, the regular season leaders remain at the top of the
standings; however, in each of the four categories, a bit of momentum
seems to have been picked up by a few drivers who started the playoffs
back in the pack. With less than a few rounds of racing separating
first, second, third and, in some cases, fourth place in each category,
expect the intensity level to be at an all-time high at the Toyo Tires
NHRA Nationals at scenic Maple Grove Raceway, October 7–10. Larry Dixon
(Top Fuel), Bob Tasca (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin (Pro Stock) and Eddie
Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) are the defending winners of the NHRA
Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event, which will be televised on
ESPN2 HD.

North Carolina. It was Dixon’s 11th win of the season in 11 final round

competition at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina, last weekend after
registering a .027 reading on an alcohol breathalyzer test prior to the
start of Saturday’s events.
DRIVERS PREPARE FOR CHARLOTTE AND SECOND STOP IN NHRA COUNTDOWN TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP:
With just one event complete in the six-race 2010 NHRA Countdown to the
Championship playoffs and the recently completed Mac Tools U.S.
Nationals presented by Lucas Oil, the excitement and tension couldn’t
be bigger in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. Now the series
heads to Charlotte, North Carolina, and zMAX Dragway for the second
stop of the Countdown to the Championship—the third annual O’Reilly
Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.
SCHEDULE SET: A new track located in New Delhi, India, will join
the Formula One World Championship schedule next season, bringing the
