QA1 has released new handling and drag-race suspension kits for third-generation Chevrolet Camaro or Pontiac Firebird ('82-'92). Tire Guru will debut its new Tire Price Optimizer software that leverages real-time local market pricing data to price inventory according to profit goals within the shop management system software. Features include price rankings against local competitors, view of inventory priced below market, potential profit based on pricing, recommendations on pricing strategy and more. Ford Performance Valve Cover

Nordic American has introduced all-new valve cover designs for Ford Performance. The diecast valve covers have an innovative, lightweight design that doesn't sacrifice strength, the company said. Each cover comes with an injected, molded O-ring to ensure enhanced strength, durability and a consistent shape. The SEMA Future Leaders Network (FLN) has named Omar Mora, engineering project lead at WARN Industries, as the network's newest spotlight member. 

Get to know Mora in his interview with SEMA News below. 

SEMA News: What is the best advice you have ever received? 

Omar Mora: At the end of the day, ask yourself, what are you trying to accomplish? Sometimes we get stuck too deep in the weeds, so we need to take a step back to re-evaluate what we're doing, and what is the true goal. 

SN: What keeps you in the industry? 

OM: I've always been drawn to anything automotive so staying in this field just feels right for me. Getting to be a part of great, recognizable products is a great bonus! 

SN: Where can you be found on a Saturday? 

OM: Tinkering with my vehicles or making useful things for the home. 

SN: How do you prepare for an important meeting? 

OM: I gather and get familiar with as much subject-matter information as is reasonable. Being informed and having a plan helps me maintain focus, but adapt as required. 

SN: If you could go to lunch with one industry leader, living or dead, who would it be? 

OM: Any Formula 1 engineering/technical lead. I'd be interested in learning how those teams operate; how they plan their concepts; how they control and organize information; how they feed that information into their design teams; and how those design teams produce new designs, changes, and adjustments as quickly as they do.

Time is running out to submit nominations for SEMA's 2024 Best Engineered Vehicle of the Year Award. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, October 30.

Now in its second year, the award honors a featured vehicle at the 2024 SEMA Show that demonstrates exceptional engineering throughout the entire vehicle, or an aspect of the vehicle that goes beyond just physical appearance. It also aims to inspire more engineers to enter the automotive aftermarket by highlighting their impact on the automotive specialty-equipment industry and placing a spotlight on the symbiotic relationship between a vehicle's design and engineering. 

"Engineers are continuously pushing the envelope to come up with new innovations that benefit our industry," said Jose Escobar, SEMA manager of recognition programs. "We look forward to seeing the outstanding creations and technical brilliance that this year's builders will bring."  

In 2023, Scorpion EV won the SEMA Best Engineered Vehicle of the Year Award for its '23 Cobra Venom. The build was an electric vehicle (EV) conversion car designed to demonstrate the ease with which internal-combustion engine vehicles can be converted to electric power. The car showcased Scorpion EV's Venom EV conversion kit, which solves the challenges related to EV conversions by providing the DIY builder with a complete, turnkey solution. 

To be considered for the award, builders must upload a photo, video and description of the engineering content included in the build, as well as the location of the displayed vehicle at the SEMA Show. Entries are being accepted until October 30, 2024, at this link.

The SEMA Best Engineered Vehicle of the Year Award winner will be announced at SEMA Central on Thursday, November 7, at the 2024 SEMA Show.

The Shell Performance Unbound Experience returns to the SEMA Show this year in Booth #80001 in the Silver Lot. In the interactive Shell V-Power NiTRO+ area, Showgoers can get up close to the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford NASCAR vehicle and experience the thrill of driving on a race track in one of Shell's high-end racing simulators. In addition, Shell scientists will be on hand to discuss Shell's premium gasoline.

OPTIMA Village and the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational

OPTIMA Village will return to the SEMA Show with new-for-2024 activations and opportunities! 

The attendee-favorite OPTIMA Village returns to the SEMA Show with a new-for-2024 activation called OPTIMA Unleashed. Get ready for one of the most thrilling spectacles, a full-throttle experience that ignites all the senses. Imagine the raw power of finely tuned engines roaring to life, the exhilarating scent of burning rubber filling the air, and the heart-pounding excitement as high-performance cars push their limits.

Nearly 100 vehicles will gather at OPTIMA Unleashed to be part of the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI). On the opening day of the SEMA Show, Tuesday, November 5, attendees will find the competing cars parked front and center at the OPTIMA Unleashed. There, they will be judged on the construction and modifications that enhance the look, performance or functionality of a stock vehicle while maintaining or enhancing the daily drive comfort features and accessories.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Peak Performance Challenge will be hosted on OPTIMA's Bronze Lot track. This is an acceleration and braking competition—a timed event that establishes the ability of the car and driver to accelerate, negotiate tight turns and stop in a designated spot.

Following the close of the SEMA Show on Friday, November 8, the OUSCI vehicles will roll out of the Bronze Lot to complete their road rally to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the remaining autocross and road course segments of the overall competition will be completed on Saturday, November 9. 

SEMA Battle of the Builders presented by Mothers

Last year's Battle of the Builders presented by Mothers saw Andy Leach of CAL Automotive Creations (next to the green vehicle) take home the overall win.

This one-of-a-kind program needs to be witnessed in person at least once. Battle of the Builders is a coveted and popular program that helps attendees--and millions following the action online--to spot trends and see the latest techniques of some of the world's most influential vehicle builders. The action unfolds throughout the SEMA Week, with several events and promotions leading up to the crowning of the champion at the SEMA Cruise on Friday, November 8.

Last year, Andy Leach of CAL Automotive Creations secured the overall winner title with his '60 Buick Invicta Custom displayed in the CleanTools booth. The "X-60" was meticulously crafted by Leach and showcased concept-car styling, featuring a wedge-sectioned body adorned with machined brass trim. The unique chassis, complete with sculpted floors, is a one-off design boasting an I-beam style derived from an IFS and IRS. The car rides on nine-piece layered wheels and is powered by a 401 Nailhead motor equipped with a crank-mounted Procharger. Every component is scratch-built, including the handmade interior, which saw the trim machined to resemble what could have been a factory finish.

The Foose Design area by the legendary artist Chip Foose will move outdoors in 2024, providing an exclusive showcase of one-of-a-kind vehicle designs! 

Back by popular demand, Chip Foose is once again providing the official art for the SEMA Show! Live RWB Build

In partnership with 503 Motoring and the SEMA Show, Akira Nakai of RWB (also known as Rauh Welt Begriff) Fame will build a '07 Porsche 997.1 GT3 into his latest work of automobile art. This will be the first GT3, outside of Nakai's personal car in Japan, that will get the RWB wide-body treatment. This will be a live and in-person build taking place at the SEMA Show in the Silver Lot Booth 81290. This feature area will also include well-known RWB builds on display. Attendees may even get the opportunity to connect with the car owners while there!

Nitro Circus

Last year, Nitro Circus wowed on the SEMA Fest campus, and this year, it returns to the SEMA Show campus! 

Nitro Circus will showcase an electrifying demonstration featuring renowned Freestyle Motocross (FMX) athletes Keith Sayers, Luke Dolin, Willie Elam, Kieran Ursua and more, who are set to push the boundaries of what's possible in action sports.
