SEMA Member News—May/June 2012
Top Three Reasons To Join SBN
Networking: The SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) offers access to more than 300 members, largely composed of women, who understand the challenges and advantages of working in the automotive specialty-equipment industry. Via exclusive invitations to SBN mixers at industry events and SBN events at the SEMA Show, such as the Speed Networking Breakfast, members have the opportunity to network with key influencers in the industry.
The Speed Networking Breakfast allows attendees to make more new contacts—male and female—at one breakfast than most people make in six months.
Recognition: Established in 1994, the SBN awards have become the premier honor for recognition of industry veterans who have volunteered their personal and professional time to contribute to women in the automotive aftermarket. Also, select women are highlighted through SBN’s Member of the Month (MoM) spotlight for acting as trendsetters in the industry. MoM spotlights receive the honor of being featured in SEMA eNews, which services a subscription base of more than 150,000 recipients. The MoM spotlight is also featured on the SEMA.org website.
SEMA Show: The SBN offers members the ideal opportunity to become actively engaged in SEMA through volunteering time to help with SBN-sponsored events at the SEMA Show. Events featured throughout the week include the Speed Networking Breakfast, Café SEMA and Gear-up Girl, each of which provides a great venue in which to enhance professional growth, networking and business leads.

For me, the networking opportunities provided by the SBN have had the most impact on my involvement with the committee and helped take me from its select committee to its chair. From there, I was honored as the Athena Award winner and ultimately to a successful run for and election to the SEMA Board of Directors.

Message From The Chair Of SBN
I feel very privileged to serve with the dynamic women of the SBN. Last year, we took the SBN beyond our very successful SEMA Speed Networking Breakfast and introduced the Cafe’ SEMA roundtable discussions with experts and the Gear-Up Girl meet-and-greet with students and interns. In 2012, we plan to sponsor a “Hot Rodders of Tomorrow” engine-building team and do the first all-female car build to be auctioned for the SEMA Scholarship Fund. It’s going to be an amazing year!

SBN Select Committee Testimonial
As a member of the SBN select committee, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a group of amazing women who are not only driven to succeed but lots of fun as well! Our networking breakfast during the SEMA Show is now the highlight of my SEMA experience. It’s gratifying to watch hundreds of attendees make worthwhile business connections in such a short period of time.
