SEMA Member News—May/June 2012
Top Three Reasons To Join MPMC
Business Guidelines Manual: Available exclusively to Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) members, the Business Guidelines Manual is a valuable reference document that addresses many of the issues and challenges faced by today’s motorsports parts manufacturers. Topics include bar coding, catalogs, counterfeiting, freight policies and much more. Material is presented in a simple, easy-to-read and -use format and can be accessed through the SEMA Education Institute’s MPMC learning track (www.SEMA.org/sei).
MPMC members produced a “Business of Engine Building” seminar at the 2011 PRI Show in Orlando. Veteran engine builders (from left to right) Tracy Dennis, Keith Dorton, Ron Hutter, David Reher, Scott Shafiroff and Carl Wegner answered questions from moderator Alan Reinhart in front of a crowd of more than 150.
Media Trade Conference: Another benefit available only to MPMC members is the MPMC Media Trade Conference (MTC). The MTC brings 100 MPMC manufacturers together with more than 200 editorial staff from national and international media for three days of 30-minute, face-to-face, one-on-one meetings in which to discuss the latest product info, projects, etc. The event presents unparalleled networking opportunities among manufacturers and media. Space is limited each year to 100 manufacturers, selected via lottery. But a “lottery ticket” is available only to MPMC members.
Industry Outreach: MPMC hosts events that connect manufacturers with other members of the motorsports community. Educational panel discussions at the SEMA Show and the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show, an annual MPMC Hall of Fame Breakfast at PRI, and a breakfast mixer at the U.S. Nationals all serve to connect member manufacturers with the very people who buy and sell their products.

MPMC Select Committee Testimonial
Access to the Business Guidelines Manual and opportunity to participate in the Media Trade Conference are more than enough reasons for any manufacturer to join MPMC. Joining the select committee has given me the opportunity to be engaged in the very development of these and other programs and work with many new friends in the industry. —Kelli Willmore, Vice President of Marketing, Mastercraft Safety |
Message From The Chair Of MPMC Even with a record number of exhibitors at the Media Trade Conference, MPMC continues to find new ways to deliver member value. Based upon the success of our seminar at the 2011 PRI show, we will host two events in 2012, with member-specific topics intended to help them make better business decisions. Our Hall of Fame ceremony at the PRI show continues to grow in stature, and our Business Guidelines Manual is now available online through the SEI. If you manufacture parts used in motorsports, it’s a great time to be involved in the Motorsports Parts Manufacturer’s Council. — Kyle Fickler, VP Of Sales, Weld Racing LLC |
