The Eighth Annual SEMA Manufacturers Rep Council (MRC) Rep Conference and Town Hall Meeting will take place during the Performance Warehouse Association (PWA) Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Be sure to mark your calendar, and plan to join us on Tuesday, September 15, at the Arizona Grand Resort. Expect an interactive session addressing our industry’s biggest challenge: the economy. This year’s topic will be “In These Turbulent Times, Don’t Just Survive…Thrive!”
This subject follows a tradition of timely, meaty and relevant topics. The facilitator, Bryan Shirley, Certified Professional Manufacturers Representative, is the president and CEO of the Manufacturers’ Agents National Association (MANA). Shirley is a visiting professor at Arizona State University and has more than 25 years of experience as a business owner, business consultant and coach who reaches all segments of consumer product sales and marketing.
The presentation and open discussion will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be followed by an open bar and hors d’oeuvres (incredible food) compliments of the Select Committee and PWA. The SEMA/MRC “stimulus package” has allowed us to reduce the cost to attend the event this year to $50 for the first participant and $25 for each additional participant from the same company if they are associated with a SEMA-member company. The cost is $75 per person for non-SEMA-member companies.
Last year was by far the most successful MRC Town Hall event to date. More than 100 industry professionals attended, including a mix of warehouse distributors, manufacturers and rep agencies. The conversation was pertinent and topical. We look forward to seeing you at the 2009 event; you can’t afford to miss it! To register or for more information, contact Staci Bostock at 909/396-0289, ext. 104.
Hall of Fame and STAR Awards
The Hall of Fame is the most prestigious award presented by the MRC and is given to dedicated individuals who enhanced the stature of or significantly contributed to the manufacturer’s rep profession. The Sales Team Annual Recognition (STAR) award is awarded to an outstanding manufacturer’s sales team that promotes professional partnership with the rep community. These awards are voted upon by the MRC’s general membership. Ballots for both awards will be sent to your agency contact by the end of August. Your ballet is due back electronically in mid-September. Both the Hall of Fame and Sales Team Annual Recognition awards will be presented to the recipients during the MRC general membership meeting in conjunction with the 2009 SEMA Show.
Calling All Manufacturers Reps!

These are interesting and challenging times. MANA and sister rep associations are reporting an uptick in the number of manufacturers who are contacting them this year. Let’s work together to improve communication and collaboration in an effort to maximize successes. Contact Staci Bostock at 909/396-0289, ext. 104 with questions or to register.
