Each year, a group of dedicated employees of SEMA-member companies recruits new SEMA and council members. Through the , members have an ideal way to develop relationships within the industry and to recruit new members.

SEMA ambassadors fill an important role by participating in the , sharing the value of SEMA membership with nonmembers; advising and mentoring new members by escorting them to industry events; and encouraging volunteer participation among other SEMA members.

To qualify as a SEMA ambassador, a participant must be an employee of a SEMA-member company. When the ambassador recruits a new member to the association, his or her name should be included on the new-member application as the referring member.

The top SEMA ambassadors for 2010 were honored and recognized with a series of awards at the 2010 SEMA Show for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year. SEMA membership staff and Ambassador Program organizers had a great turnout for the Ambassador Luncheon, which is a wonderful opportunity for ambassadors to socialize and to acknowledge the winners.

The 2010 Top Ambassador Award went to Jim Barber of Classic Automotive Restoration Specialists Inc. Three other ambassadors were honored at the luncheon for their commitment in recruiting SEMA members and council members. Honorable Mentions were awarded to John Menzler of Competition Cams Inc., Scott O’Toole of RPM Data Services and Bob Kern of General Motors Corp.
