SEMA members that have taken advantage of a 2011 Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP) grant of $500,000 awarded to SEMA have reported $52.68 million in export sales. The funds provided by the U.S. Department of Commerce through this program have helped support projects aimed at increasing U.S. exports to key markets overseas.

The grant received by the association is passed along to members to defray the cost of participating in the SEMA Middle East, China or Russia Business Development Programs and to transport vehicles popularly accessorized globally but not sold in the United States. Members are provided access to these vehicles throughout the year to help create or adapt products to sell in countries outside the United States.

SEMA was recently awarded an additional MDCP grant of $300,000 to provide further assistance to members in selling to the Middle East, China and Russia.
