Designer Eric Black of E Black Design won the Goodguys 2014/2015 Giveaway Truck Design Contest, which ran on www.good-guys.com. The contest featured a perspective design of a ’70 Chevy C-10 pickup from 16 top artists and designers. Design elements include a recessed grille and headlights, a side-exit exhaust, raised bumpers, a reduced drip rail, custom side trim and other subtleties. The color is a modern take on mid-’60s Lindale blue. The wheels are Billet Specialties Bonneville-G series wrapped in red-striped rubber. The interior will be an orange/red two-tone blend with other neutral colors. Rodger Lee and his team at Ironworks Speed & Kustom will bring the design to life using one of his new C-10 chassis as the foundation. The truck will debut at the Goodguys 17th PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, in July 2014 and given away one year later at the 18th PPG Nationals in July 2015.

After 48 years of selling performance parts and high-end automotive accessories on the Queensway in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Performance Improvements has relocated its head office to 87 Advance Rd., about four stoplights north of the Queensway. The company reported that the new location has a showroom equal to the size of its old building, allowing the company to have more products on display rather than stored in the warehouse. SEMA member Roadwire was a winner in Facebook’s “Small Business Boost” contest. A prize of $10,000 was awarded to the top 10 companies that acquired the most fans on Facebook from January through April 2012. JMPR Public Relations was appointed the agency of record for The Coker Group. Source Interlink Media promoted Jeff Holt to editorial director of the company’s American Motorcycle Group, which includes Hot Bike, Baggers and Street Chopper as well as several special-interest publications. Holt, previously editor-in-chief of Street Chopper and Baggers, will direct all editorial planning for the group as well as pilot the re-launch of Hot Bike, slated for early 2013. Related changes will move both Hot Bike editors Eric Ellis and Jordan Mastagni to Baggers. New hire John Zamora will be appointed editor of Hot Bike. Paul Brian, director of communications and spokesman for the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), retired from the association April 30. Brian has been with the CATA for 19 years and is the longtime host of the “Drive Chicago” radio show heard on WLS radio 890 AM. He will continue in his role as host of “Drive Chicago.” Mark Bilek, currently the Internet director for the CATA, will assume Brian’s duties.

Kumho Tire USA Inc. has partnered with the United States Soccer Federation as the official tire sponsor of the United States men’s and women’s national soccer teams. The Thermadyne Holdings Corp. has changed its name to the Victor Technologies Group Inc. and the name of the wholly owned subsidiary Thermadyne Industries Inc. to Victor Technologies International Inc. According to a recent release, Victor is the company’s strongest and most established brand, and it will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2013.

Wayne Fiester has joined MadStache Inc., producer of “My Classic Car,” as an account executive. MadStache is a full-service multimedia company located in Evansville, Indiana. Whitworth, who previously served as road-race sales manager for aftermarket brake manufacturer Hawk Performance, will manage research and development and new-product launches for the Accel brand. As new-product manager, Weilnau will oversee the management, development and growth of the Lakewood product lines in addition to QuickTime and Hays products. Meyer Distributing Inc. announced that it opened a new location in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The new cross-dock will have a direct feed from Meyer’s distribution center in Orlando. Meyer also opened a new cross-dock location in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Little Rock addition has a direct feed from the company’s hub in Jasper, Indiana, which houses more than 500,000 square feet of inventory. “The addition of the Little Rock cross-dock enhances our ability to offer logistical services throughout the region,” said Jason Braun, executive vice president of Meyer Distributing. “The new site has already been fully integrated with our distribution system and technology framework and will provide unmatched service to customers in this market.” Meyer Distributing, Jasper, IN; 800-MEYER-USA.
