Hyundai Santa Fe

When It Hits: Production of the new Santa Fe will likely begin in the second quarter of 2012 at Kia’s factory in West Point, Georgia.

What Priddy Says: Rumors surrounding the Santa Fe suggest that there will be two variants: the familiar two-row, short-wheelbase model and a three-row, longer-wheelbase model that will replace the Veracruz.

Volkswagen Mk7 Golf

When It Hits: Watch for production of the Mk7 Golf to begin around the middle of 2013.

What Priddy Says: The Mk7 Golf will move to VW’s flexible MQB chassis—the same chassis that will underpin the next-generation Audi A3. The Golf will have a new 2.0L turbocharged, direct-injected four-cylinder that will be good for 170 to 180 horsepower.

When It Hits: Engine options may increase when the freshened Fiesta debuts, which is expected later this year.

What Priddy Says: While this prototype is a Euro-spec three-door Fiesta, the entire lineup with be undergoing a freshening. New LED headlamps are expected for the Fiesta, as well as styling cues from the Fiesta-based EcoSport Crossover.

Mercedes GL63 AMG

When It Hits: Look for the GL63 AMG in production form at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, with a market release one month later.

What Priddy Says: The GL will be built on a stretched version of the next-generation M-class platform and will feature LED daytime running lights on the bumper and new taillamps around back. It will likely come with a 570hp twin-turbo V8 paired to the brand’s 7G-Tronic (seven-speed) transmission.
