Legislation (H.B. 2149) has been introduced in the Texas House of Representatives as a companion bill to Senate legislation (S.B. 805) that would require the issuance of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger cars and light trucks. Under current law vehicles must display two license plates. Both H.B. 2149 and S.B. 805 are awaiting consideration in their respective Transportation Committees.
