Megan Meyer Carries 7-Round Win Streak at NGK Spark Plugs 4-Wide Nationals

Female Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car racing stars Megan Meyer and Annie Whiteley shared the winner’s stage to highlight the list of champions at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. Meyer collected her third national event win in the last three years, earning her first one at zMAX Dragway in 2016. She won her first NHRA National event of 2018 by beating chassis builder Dan Page in the final round, 5.192 to 5.250. Meyer went on to also hold low qualifier, low ET and top speed of the meet at the following race at Atlanta Dragway with a 5.22 ET at 277 MPH. She once again took down Page in the semi-finals, but ultimately lost to Josh Hart in the final round of the NHRA Southern Nationals.

Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels Named Official Tire of SCTA/BNI

Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels has signed on as official tire of the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) and Bonneville Nationals Inc. (BNI). The SCTA and sister organization BNI hold dry-lake racing events at El Mirage Dry Lake in Southern California and the annual Bonneville Speed Week and World Finals at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. As the official tire of SCTA/BNI, Mickey Thompson will have a prominent presence at Bonneville Speed Week in August, as well as in the pages of SCTA Racing News.

Dave Adkins, who last year became the quickest LS-powered driver ever with a 3.94 aboard his 2,700-lb. ’63 Impala, outdid himself with his new Camaro, ripping off a 3.87 at nearly 200 mph at the Holley EFI Outlaw Street Car Reunion in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Adkins’ ’70 Camaro is powered by a true inline-valve LS engine, a twin-turbocharged 427-cid powerplant with a billet Noonan block and billet Baker Engineering heads that’s completely controlled by a Holley Dominator EFI system. Adkins made his historic run in the opening round of eliminations.

Subaru WRX STI Finishes First in the SP3T Class at 46th ADAC Zurich 24 Hour Nürburgring Race

Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd. has announced that a Subaru WRX STI race car outfitted with high-performance Falken tires finished first in the SP3T Class at the 46th ADAC Zurich 24h-Race Nürburgring, held May 10–13, in Nürburg, Germany. This was Team Subaru Tecnica’s fifth victory in the SP3T Class at the 24h-Race Nürburgring. Team Subaru Tecnica International finished 62nd overall, thus claiming its fifth victory to date in the SP3T Class.

Kristaps Blušs Scores First Formula DRIFT Victory at Road Atlanta

Formula DRIFT (FD) arrived at Road Atlanta last weekend for the NAPA Auto Parts: Road to the Championship presented by Rain X. Justin Pawlak (USA) qualified first in the Pro category in his Roush Performance/Falken Tires ’18 Ford Mustang. He scored 97 points in qualifying, narrowly beating Daijiro Yoshihara (Japan) in second place. The 2011 FD champion held off Fredric Aasbo (Norway) in his Rockstar Energy Drink/Nexen Tire Toyota Corolla. Aasbo recorded a best score of 95 points to put him third. He was placed ahead of James Deane (Ireland), who also scored 95 points in his Worthouse/Falken Tire Nissan Silvia S15. However, James was awarded fourth by virtue of a lower score on his second run. Qualifying fifth scoring 94 points was Kristaps Blušs (Latvia) in his HGK Racing Team/Achilles Radial/MAST Motorsports BMW E92 “Eurofighter,” who won his first event at Road Atlanta in 2018, defeating Aasbo in the final. Round Four: The Gauntlet takes place in Wall, New Jersey, June 1–2.
