SEMA Members to Rally Support for RPM Act at Washington Rally

By SEMA Washington, D.C., Staff

More than 110 representatives from SEMA-member companies will descend on the nation’s capital to participate in SEMA’s 2018 Washington Rally, Wednesday, May 16.

During the event, SEMA members will urge Congress to pass H.R. 350/S.203, the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act. The bipartisan bill would protect Americans’ right to modify street vehicles into dedicated racecars and the industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete. More than 180 members of Congress have cosponsored the RPM Act, and the number continues to grow.

Members will also raise awareness of other issues facing the specialty-equipment industry, including harmful tariffs, preventing higher ethanol content in gasoline and saving the Bonneville Salt Flats.

“One-on-one meetings with legislators are among the best ways to impact lawmakers who are making decisions that affect SEMA-member businesses,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “The SEMA Washington Rally helps lawmakers hear directly from constituents and informs them about the issues that are most important to our industry.”
