2017 SEMA Export Fair: Expand Your International Customer Base

By Linda Spencer

Export Fair
The 2017 SEMA Export Fair will provide attendees the opportunity to participate in roundtables and seminars featuring seasoned exporters, top overseas buyers and other key stakeholders.

The second SEMA Export Fair, to be held July 25–26, 2017, at the SEMA Garage in Diamond Bar, California, is designed for SEMA members who are interested in learning how to sell to 90% of the world’s customers who reside outside the United States.

The day-and-a-half-long program, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, will provide attendees the opportunity to participate in roundtables and seminars featuring seasoned exporters, top overseas buyers and other key stakeholders. In addition, attendees can participate in a 30-minute private, confidential meeting with an IPR attorney to learn about taking the appropriate steps to protect their patents and trademarks. Time slots for meetings with the attorneys are limited. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Companies that are looking to grow their businesses through exporting should consider attending. The program is designed to offer current exporters the opportunity to exchange best practices and discuss strategies for overcoming problems that cost them time and money. This includes identifying the right mix of products based on vehicles on the road in targeted markets; the most cost-effective and expedient way for getting your products to overseas customers; getting paid; and protecting your trademarks, patents and copyrights. The program is also designed for those new to exporting who would like to learn how to get started in growing their customer bases to reach buyers located outside the United States.

Registration fees are $95 per company (for one person) and $75 for each additional attendee from the same company. For a limited time, the fee for companies registering before May 31 is $75 per company and $65 per each additional person from the same company. The event, which will be followed by a happy hour from 4:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m., is limited to the first 100 participants.
