Spy photographers have provided photographic evidence (pictured below) that the ’18 Jeep Wrangler will still offer a six-speed manual transmission.
Rumors have been circulating that with the introduction of the thoroughly revised Wrangler, an eight-speed automatic would be the only choice for the sake of efficiency and production simplification. This is the latest evidence, however, the Jeep will still maintain a stick-shift option.
It’s also implied the ’18 Wrangler will use a different transmission than the one in the current model, with a new shifter design and reverse relocated to the upper left position.
Expect the six-speed to be available on lower Wrangler trims, and probably not with the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6, but only with the 3.6L V6 as it is on the current Wrangler.
