A field of 33 competitive Pro Mod cars showed up in Indy for “The Big Go” event. Qualifying began Friday evening, where Farber ran a 6.446 at 237.92 mph, which placed him 26th. The second round of qualifying began Saturday afternoon, and Farber improved to a 5.997 at 243.94 mph run, which moved him up into 15th. As the U.S. Nationals race takes place over the course of four days rather than NHRA’s standard three, the Pro Mod class enjoyed an extra round of qualifying. On Sunday morning, Farber, in his CRC ’69 Dodge Daytona had a 0.999-second 60-ft. time, and flew to the eighth-mile marker in 3.949 seconds at 191.81 mph. By the time he had crossed through the traps and stopped the clocks, Farber had put down a 5.971 at 244.87 mph run. However, the bump spot to get into the show had been set at 5.940 and Farber missed the mark by the slimmest of margins.
