Racing News: Dallara Named IndyCar Chassis Supplier Beginning 2012

THE FUTURE: Dallara has been selected by the IZOD IndyCar Series to serve as the chassis supplier for the series beginning in 2012. The new chassis, known as an IndyCar, will allow for aero kits, which can be designed and sold by anyone and will give the cars distinct looks based on which aero kit is being used.

KING STEVE VII:
World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series veteran Steve Kinser passed Kerry Madsen late in the race to win his seventh Kings Royal sprint-car classic and its $50,000 payday Saturday night at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

CASH MONEY: Daniel Hemric bagged $250,000 for winning the inaugural Legends Million, held Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.

SPONSORSHIP DOLLARS:
Chris Wall, Steve Casebolt, Jimmy Owens, Ray Cook and Don O’Neal have been selected to compete for a $70,000 sponsorship package from ApplianceZone.com, the newest sponsor of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The five competing drivers were selected based on the company’s demographics.

WELCOME TO INDIANA: With three victories in seven events, Jon Stanbrough wrapped up the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car Series Indiana Sprint Week championship Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana.

RETURN TO FORMULA: Jacques Villeneuve has filed an entry for the 13th Formula One team in 2011 under the Villeneuve Racing banner, thanks to a partnership with the Italian Durango team.

ON THE MEND: Former American Sprint Car Series National champions Travis Rilat and Wayne Johnson are both recovering in a Washington hospital after separate incidents over the weekend.

PETTY’S PICK:
The second Richard Petty Driver Search will be held September 13–16 with the winner receiving a fully funded seat during the ARCA Racing Series finale at Rockingham (North Carolina) Speedway October 9.
