New American Automaker Local Motors Announces Open House

Local Motors will conduct an open house of its micro-factory facility in Chandler, Arizona, on July 31, 2010, 6:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m. The evening will feature a tour of the facility, a demonstration of the Rally Fighter car, live music and a car show. RSVP Here.

According to its mission statement, Local Motors is a new American car company with unique methods to design, manufacture and bring to market efficient vehicles through a revolutionary, local assembly and retail experience. The company utilizes a large community of car designers and engineers collaborating to develop innovate vehicles.

John "Jay" Rogers founded Local Motors in 2007 based on the concept of open sourcing and open design. He wanted customers to assist in the design and development of the cars his company would create. Through the Internet, he built a community of artists, enthusiasts and car designers.
