Racing News: Former Professional Bull Riders CEO, Randy Bernard, Named CEO of IndyCar Series

NEW RIDER: Randy Bernard, formerly CEO for the Professional Bull Riders Inc. was named CEO for the IZOD IndyCar Series February 2.

CLOSED: Vision Racing, the IndyCar Series team owned by IRL founder Tony George, has closed its doors without sponsorship for the 2010 campaign.

CUTTING PURSES: NASCAR has cut purses in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series by 10% for the 2010 season.

SURPRISE WINNER: The Action Express Porsche team won the Rolex 24 At Daytona in its first appearance in the annual twice-around-the-clock sports-car race. Winning drivers were Joao Barbosa, Terry Borcheller, Mike Rockenfeller and Ryan Dalziel.

OVERSEAS: British driver John Mickel won the inaugural ASA Transcontinental late-model stock car race Sunday at Phakisa Freeway Circuit in South Africa.

TWO-WIDE: The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will go to double-file restarts for the first time this season, beginning with this weekend’s three events at Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park.

ON THE MOVE: The famed World Dirt Track Championship dirt-late-model race will return to West Virginia Motor Speedway for the first time in many years when it is held October 14–16 at the half-mile oval, which will open for the first time since 2008.

NEW HOME: The Hut Hundred for the USAC National Midget Series will be held at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, on May 8. The race, which was first run in 1954, was not held in 2009.
