Movers & Shakers: Steve Lind Joins Autobytel; Inaugural Gene Winfield Award Announced; ZOOM and Fidanza Form Clutch Alliance

Autobytel Inc. named Steve Lind executive vice president, corporate development. According to the company, Lind brings to the company nearly 15 years of online and offline automotive experience, a rich collection of industry contacts and a proven track record of executive leadership honed at Nissan North America, LeadPoint, Stealing Home Media—and through nearly 10 previous years of service at Autobytel.

The first annual Winfield Award—presented by master customizer and designer Gene Winfield in recognition of automotive excellence—will be presented during the 2010 Syracuse Nationals, July 16–18. From the entries, Winfield will choose six vehicles, known as the Select Six, and the vehicles will be prominently displayed inside one of the main buildings at the nationals. Entrants for the Winfield Award are required to provide a list of enhancements, and all vehicles must have one radical modification (e.g. chopped, sectioned and/or channeled). Submissions for the award are due by April 1. Winfield will conduct the final judging at the show, and the winner will be announced on Saturday, July 17. Fidanza and ZOOM Performance Products formed a new partnership known as the Clutch Alliance, which allows the two companies to work together on engineering and product development while continuing to exist as separate entities. “Under the Clutch Alliance umbrella, these two companies will be working hand-in-hand to supply the market with the best selection, best quality and best pricing,” said Fidanza President Bob Scheid.

Polk is now accepting submissions for its 6th Annual Inventory Efficiency Award, which is presented to one manufacturer and one distributor/retailer every year at the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium, May 18–19, 2010 in Chicago. The award recognizes and rewards outstanding automotive aftermarket companies for process improvements relative to inventory efficiency. Winners are selected by an independent panel of industry experts who review the nominations. Award winners are self-nominated, and companies can access the submission forms by going to www.polk.com or by following this link. The deadline to register for the awards is February 26.

Classic Instruments announced that it will sponsor the Pros Pick award at all National Street Rod Association (NSRA) events. The Classic Instruments Pros Pick award will be presented by the NSRA at all 11 events yearly, and the company will determine five Pros Pick recipients at each event. At the Street Rod Nationals, there will be 12 recipients chosen.
