Consumer intentions to buy specialty-equipment products rose in September, up three points from the August reading of the SEMA Consumer Demand Index. The September index is 45.
Twelve percent of American drivers indicated plans to purchase specialty-equipment parts and accessories within the next three months. And following the trend of the previous three months, full-size cars are the vehicle type most likely to be accessorized.
Auto dealerships continue to be the most likely place to buy accessories, with 30% of respondents indicating they would purchase specialty parts from a dealership in the next three months.
