SIGNED UP: Danica Patrick has officially signed her contract extension with Andretti Green Racing. She is also expected to compete in a “limited” number of stock-car racing events during the three-year agreement.
RAINY DAY IN GEORGIA: The Peugeot team earned its first Petit Le Mans victory in Saturday’s rain-shortened event at Road Atlanta. Drivers Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin claimed victory with a second Peugeot team finishing second.
CROWNED ACHIEVEMENT: Dave Darland earned his 11th 4-Crown Nationals victory at Eldora Speedway, winning Saturday’s Silver Crown race. Brad Sweet and Jerry Coons Jr. were also winners. Darland trails 4-Crown dominator Jack Hewitt, who had 19 victories in the prestigious event, on the all-time list.
RIDE FOUND: Former Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso has yet to sign a contract, but says he has decided which team he will drive for in 2010. Speculation has him joining Ferrari.
OUT: Craig Dollansky has been replaced in the second Kasey Kahne Racing World of Outlaws sprint car by Brad Sweet, who drives Kahne’s USAC machines.
HOT HIGHT: After narrowly making NHRA’s Countdown to One, Robert Hight has won two consecutive events and leads the Funny Car points with four races remaining.
