CADNA Automotive Inc. has named Rene Daudelin vice president of retail sales, effective July 6. Daudelin most recently served as the vice president of sales and marketing for International Lubricants Inc. CADNA Automotive is the licensee of automotive brands such as Prestone, Autolite and FRAM.
Tom Vogele has been named editor of the National Street Rod Association’s StreetScene magazine after the untimely death of editor Joe Mayall. Having helmed the monthly magazine for 30 years, Mayall was an active street rodder and known throughout the rodding world. Vogele brings a wealth of industry and publishing experience to the position. His 20-year involvement with Street Rodder began when he joined the magazine as a staffer in 1980, and eventually rose to Vice President/Group Publisher overseeing titles including Rod & Custom, Popular Hot Rodding and Super Chevy. Vogele also worked for awhile with Boyd Coddington, where he helped build numerous AMBR winners, and eventually built the infamous Project 40 "World's Fastest Street Rod" in 1985.
The Tire Group International has opened a new sales office in Santiago, Chile. The move is part of the company’s continued marketing and distribution strategy throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The new sales office is led by Gonzalo Mino Fourines, who brings more than 25 years experience in the tire and automotive industries.

The Specialist, a Pioneer Premier retailer in Tucson, Arizona, was the winner of the 2009 Pioneer Sound Build-Off Competition. The company was honored during the annual Mobile Entertainment Road Show event, June 13, in Long Beach, California. The Specialist’s 2007 Honda Civic was named the champion and the company received $10,000 and the Pioneer Sound Build-Off championship trophy.
Industry icons and organizations are rallying behind the efforts of PROJECT 1320, a series of documentaries defining the birth and growth of drag racing—and the parallel growth of the performance aftermarket—through first-person oral histories of the surviving early pioneers and legends of the sport and industry. Produced by Quarter Mile Entertainment, the project has received the endorsements of key individuals and groups including “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, the Petersen Automotive Museum, Performance Warehouse Association (PWA), National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) and SEMA. "These endorsements at such an early stage are very heartening and help to validate the importance of the project's efforts,” says Traci Hrudka, chairman of Quarter Mile Entertainment. Producers are now digitizing and archiving historical photos and footage, with production scheduled to begin later this summer.
Frost & Sullivan recognized Schrader International’s line of tire pressure monitoring systems with the 2009 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Industry Innovation & Advancement of the Year. The decision was based on analysis of the automotive vehicle pressure sensors market.
Glenn Dahl, senior coordinator of technical education for Bridgestone Retail Operations, was appointed to the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Board of Directors. Dahl will assist the ASE’s mission of improving the quality of automotive service and repair.

Applied Chemical Specialties released a significant collection of rare, historic vintage drag racing videos and photos from the 1950s. Highlights of the collection include rare footage of the first ever NHRA Nationals in 1955 taken before the remainder of the event was rained out; video and photos from the 1959 AHRA Nationals; video from the 1955 “World Series of Drag Racing” in Lawrenceville, Illinois; miscellaneous video footage from the early days of drag racing in the mid-1950s; and quarter-mile runs by Art Arfons’ “Green Monster 2,” a 20-foot, six-wheeled car powered by a 2,000 hp Allison aircraft engine. Also featured is “The Lemon,” an A/Altered ’33 Ford Coupe that won the 1960 AHRA Nationals. “The Lemon” was built and raced by Jerry Ross, founder of the industrial chemical division of Applied Chemical Specialties. SpeedDirect has acquired SK Products, a manufacturer of high output headlamp wiring harnesses for classic vehicles that are designed to improve light output for stock headlamps or allow for upgrades to higher output Xenon lamps without damaging stock wiring. The design and manufacturing operations for SK Products were relocated to a SpeedDirect office in Prescott, Arizona.
Green Grease, a brand of OMNI Lubricants, has hired Karen Hillard as its new operations manager. Hillard is responsible for day-to-day operations and will head up the company’s human resource department.
