IMS UNCERTAINTY: Tony George remains the CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway despite a turbulent week that included reports he had been voted out of the position by the company’s board, which includes his mother and three sisters. While George remains at his post, it seems likely he will hand over the reins of the speedway and rededicate himself to the Indy Racing League sometime later this year.
BACK ON TRACK: Top Fuel driver and team owner David Baca will relinquish the seat of his 8,000-hp Mach 1 Global Services dragster to J.R. Todd for this weekend's 12th annual United Association Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Joliet, Illinois.

CANCELED: The ARCA RE/MAX Series race scheduled June 28 at Ontario’s Cayuga Speedway has been canceled.
NEW PAIRING: Lance McGrew has replaced Tony Eury Jr. as crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports team.
DOUBLE FILE: It seems likely NASCAR will make the move to double-file restarts for the Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series later this year.
STILL ON TOP: Formula One point-leader Jenson Button, a winner of five of six races this season, remained at the top of the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings, which rates drivers from all auto-racing disciplines. The rankings appear weekly in America’s Motorsports Authority.
