STALEMATE: The FIA, Formula One czar Bernie Ecclestone and the teams competing in the Formula One World Driving Championship remain at a stalemate regarding the rules for the 2010 season. A budget-cap rules system is at the center of the disagreement.
AWARD WINNER: Indy Racing League Director of Engineering Jeff Horton won the 43rd annual BorgWarner Louis Schwitzer Award presented annually during Indianapolis 500 events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
FINISHED: Dover (Delaware) International Speedway has completed the installation of SAFER Barriers on the inside walls at the one-mile concrete oval, which hosts two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events each year.
COMING BACK: NHRA team owner Mike Ashley will return to the cockpit later this year, driving four Top Fuel races as a teammate to his team’s lead driver, Antron Brown.
FIELD OF 33: The 33 drivers qualified for the Indianapolis 500 made the trip to New York City on Monday, posing for photographs in the famed Herald Square. Many of the drivers made other publicity stops to promote the IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500.
STILL ON TOP: Jenson Button remained at the top of the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings, which rates drivers from all auto-racing disciplines. The rankings appear weekly in America’s Motorsports Authority.
