SUSPENDED BAN: McLaren has been given a three-race ban for bringing the sport into disrepute by deceiving race stewards at the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix, but the sentence has been suspended.
UPGRADES: Speedway Motorsports Inc. is continuing with plans to make $13.5 million worth of improvements to Kentucky Speedway.
CANCELLED: The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport has canceled round eight of its 2008–2009 season, the A1GP Mexico City, originally scheduled for May 22–24.
RIBBON CUTTING: The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum held a “Grand Opening” and “Ribbon Cutting” on May 1 for its recently completed second floor, which features a state-of-the-art theater and research library. Several World of Outlaws officials, drivers and crew members attended the ceremony and visited with fans.
TOP DOG: By sweeping both ends of a NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series doubleheader at Richmond International Raceway, Kyle Busch celebrated his 24th birthday in style and returned to the top of the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings, which rates drivers from all auto-racing disciplines. The rankings appear weekly in America’s Motorsports Authority.
