European Parliament Votes to Allow Dual-Measurement Product Labeling

The European Parliament recently voted to allow dual measurements to be included on product labeling. The amendment indefinitely extends the use of supplementary units of measurement, such as pounds and inches. The extension eliminates a potential barrier to trade by forgoing the units of measurement directive—which mandates metric-only labeling—that was scheduled to take affect in 2010.
