SEMA announced the winners of the New Products Showcase Awards at the New Product Awards Breakfast held at the 2008 SEMA Show. The event serves as a kickoff just prior to the official opening of the Show, and it recognizes the most cutting-edge automotive products either on the market or about to hit the market. This year, more than 2,000 new products were submitted for consideration.
Criteria that ranked high on the judges' selection for the New Products Showcase Awards included superiority of innovation, technical achievement, quality and workmanship, consumer appeal and marketability.
The 2009 New Product Award Winners are:
Best Engineered New Product
Winner: Professional Products, Powerfire
1st Runner-Up: Nordskog Instruments, GPS Pulse Generator
2nd Runner-Up: Eckler Industries Inc. ’55–’57 LS1 Engine Installation Kit
Professional Products received the award for Best Engineered New Product for its Powerfire ready-to-run distributor.
Best New Exterior Accessory Product
Winner: BedRug, by Wise, BedTred
1st Runner-Up: Mr. Gasket/Prestolite Performance, AnchorTrax 6-Foot Truck Kit
2nd Runner-Up: Go Rhino! Products/Big Country Truck Accessories, Xtreme Guard
BedRug by Wise won a 2009 New Product Award in the Exterior Accessory category for its BedTred bedliner.
Best New Interior Accessory Product
Winner: B&M Racing & Performance Products, Comp Stick Kit
1st Runner-Up: MacNeil Automotive Products Ltd. WeatherTech AVM (All-Vehicle Mat)
2nd Runner-Up: PLX Devices Inc., KIWI
The Comp Stick Kit from B&M Racing & Performance Products received the award for Best New Interior Accessory Product.
Best New Merchandising Display

Best New Off-Road/4-Wheel Drive Product
