NASCAR DRIVER STANTON BARRETT MOVES TO INDYCAR AND OTHER RACING NEWS

PULLING OUT: Having supported the Hooters Pro Cup Series since its creation in 1994, Hooters Restaurants of America will end its sponsorship of the touring stock-car series at the end of the 2008 season. United Speed Alliance Racing, the sanctioning body for the series, is seeking a replacement sponsor.

GOING TO INDY: Hollywood stuntman and NASCAR driver Stanton Barrett will race full-time in the IndyCar Series next season, driving for Beck Motorsports. Also, Vitor Meira has been hired to drive for A.J. Foyt Racing in the IndyCar Sries next year.

DIED: Award-winning actor, successful road racer and Indy car team owner Paul Newman died over the weekend after a battle with cancer. He was 83 years old.

POWER RANKINGS: With his 13th victory of the season, NHRA Top Fuel point leader Tony Schumacher remained at the top of the National Speed Sport News Power Rankings. The National Speed Sport News Power Rankings are published weekly in the 74-year-old motorsports publication.
