SPY SHOTS—NEXT MUSTANG TO GET MINOR FACELIFT, MAJOR POWER?

Although heavily wrapped, this is reportedly the prototype for the 2010 Mustang hiding mid-cycle facelift details, including new front and rear fascias with a new grille, headlights and taillights, says spy photographer Brenda Priddy. This prototype's interior, Priddy says, was also well wrapped and yielded no clue to cabin enhancements and upgrades.

"Our shooter stumbled upon this prototype when he made a wrong turn, and found the mule during a U-turn, accounting for the lack of sharpness in the photos," Priddy says.

As for engine options, the bloggers at NewCarPark.com report that the new pony will offer a 5.8L and 6.2L BOSS V8 to keep it in league with the forthcoming Camaro and Challenger. Entry-level options should include the same 3.5L Duratec V6 from the Taurus, while the wild card may be the TwinForce V6 that appeared in the Lincoln MKR concept car, a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 reportedly outputting up to 400hp.
